Enhancing Audience Experiences through

Digital Storytelling and Augmented Reality

Using digital storytelling (DST) and augmented reality (AR) to enrich audience engagement and enhance information retention

Visitors can actively participate by capturing photos or short videos that place them directly within the scenes of each exhibit, fostering a unique sense of immersion and personal connection to co-imagined worlds.

The AR features were incorporated in the When the Night Changes exhibition, where they transformed audience experiences by connecting historical narratives to speculative futures. By framing the exhibit around Carnival traditions like Canboulay that commemorate agricultural cycles, AR provided a powerful lens for examining sustainable agricultural practices in the Caribbean.

Through AR, visitors were able to explore the intersection of socio-economic and environmental factors of food security. This immersive experience encouraged audiences to reflect on their relationships the environment, and the sustainability of communal resources.
